ZEF searches research associate

The Center for Development Research (ZEF) is looking for a research associate to review and augment food security criteria for sustainable biomass production in compliance with human rights in the regions Africa, Latin America and Asia. The position is offered part time until April 30th, 2020. The Welthungerhilfe and WWF are partners in this project.

 

Tasks will include:

• The development of a tool that enables the monitoring of the right to food on a national level and implications of interventions for biomass production.

• The determination of corporate responsibility from a legal perspective

• The development and testing of a tool that enables practitioners to monitor the changes in local food security

• Support of the scientific background, practicability and reliability of the certification process including the development of indicators and instruments for verification of existing criteria for food security

• Administrative tasks

 

Candidates should hold a university degree in agricultural or social sciences, geography or agro-economics, have multiple years of work experience, knowledge on standards for sustainability and certification, very good English skills, and a willingness to travel to project countries, besides others. WorldVeg searches vegetable production expert

The World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) is looking for a horticultural scientist for small scale vegetable production in India with a focus on tomatoes.

 

Tasks will include:

• The development and promotion of affordable cropping techniques 

• The conduction of research experiments to improve plant protection

• Support of seed suppliers to promote improved varieties

• Development of training material

 

The job requires a university degree in horticulture with a specialization in vegetable production or similar fields, several years of working experience in the field of commercial vegetable production, experience in planning and implementation of research projects, good English skills. IWMI searches strategic program leader

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is looking for a R&D leader for the Strategic Program on Building Resilience. The program aims to increase resilience in farming communities for higher “food security, human well-being, and sustainable development”. Responsibilities of the R&D leader will be to advance research on sustainable water management through thought leadership, and through the motivation and coordination of the team. Candidates should hold a PhD in a field related to “agricultural water management, irrigation engineering, precision agriculture/smart farming, hydrology and water resources management (surface water and groundwater), and geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing applications for integrated water resources management and/or water risk management”.
