There are three categories of membership: Ordinary, Student and Corporate. Ordinary membership is open to individuals engaged in any aspect of horticulture. Ordinary members have voting rights and may be elected to office in the Association. Student membership is open to students enrolled in horticulture or related courses at institutions of higher learning. Corporate membership is open to organizations and institutions involved in any aspect of horticulture. Student and corporate members have no right to vote and may not be elected to office in the Association.

All memberships are subject to approval by the Association. In all cases, registration is by payment of a non refundable fee of Ksh. 500. Members pay annual subscription fee according to category as follows:
