
The Horticultural Association of Kenya (HAK) is the umbrella organization of stakeholders in the horticulture industry in Kenya. HAK was officially launched on 14th January 1999 and registered in November 2001. HAK is an all inclusive organization of the Horticulture industry in Kenya and its stakeholders include academic institutions such as universities, colleges, polytechnics, technical and high schools; research institutions like KARI, ICIPE and CABI; Statutory bodies like PCPB, HCDA and KEPHIS; Ministry of Agriculture, Other corporations and parastatals, farmers; marketing agencies; manufacturers; NGOs; suppliers and consumers among others. The 8th HAK Workshop on Sustainable Horticultural Production in the Tropics was held between 8th and 11th December 2008 at Masinde Muliro University, Kakamega, Kenya. The theme of the workshop was the theme of the workshop is "Value chain of fruits for local market, export and processing in the Tropics".
On behalf of the HAK Executive committee, I would like to thank all the institutions and individuals who made it possible to hold the workshop. It is our hope and desire that you will join us in the future workshops as well. Plans are already underway for the 9th Workshop. Thank you.
