Board of Directors

Board Meeting Nov 4, 2008 in Arusha, Tanzania

The The GlobalHort Consortium has a major challenge to deliver a message to policy makers, research leaders and politicians that appropriate and coordinated efforts are needed to ensure that future crop production in developing regions and food supply to their own markets as well as to overseas markets, such as the European market, are safe and secure, and that natural and human resources are efficiently managed. One requirement is to gather from the earlier stages all the stakeholders involved in horticulture for successful research for development, reason for a consensual Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors comprises 10 voting members: one representative from AVRDC - The World Vegetable Center, one from the International Society of Horticultural Science (ISHS), one from the Alliance of the CGIAR, one from Global  Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR), one from Advanced Research Institutes (ARI), one from the health and nutrition community (NEPAD), one from a donors’ representative (ICDF), one from the farmers' organizations (IFAP), one from the private sector (ISF) and one from an international organization which has not yet been filled. The Board of Directors was reconstituted during the second meeting of Board of Directors of GlobalHort, 16 December 2007, in Hong Kong, China. It comprises the following institutions:

  • Alliance of the CGIAR
  • ARI - Advanced Research Institutes represented by CIRAD - Centre de cooperation internationale en recherche agronomique pour le
